Robert qualified from Glasgow University Dental School in 1992 and worked as a general dentist for seven years before starting postgraduate education in the hospital service.

He completed his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2000. Robert then entered the orthodontic specialist training programme at Guy's Hospital, London, graduating with a Master's degree from the University of London and his Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2003. His Master's research was published in the Journal of Orthodontics in 2004.

Following entry to the Orthodontic Specialist List in 2003, Robert worked in specialist orthodontic practice in Edinburgh for five years before opening Borders Orthodontics in 2008.

Una qualified from Edinburgh University Dental School in 1994. Having completed her vocational training in 1995, she spent a year working as a general dentist before moving into orthodontic practice, where she has built her career as an assistant.

Josephine joined Borders Orthodontics in August 2011 as a trainee dental nurse. She trained with Telford College in Edinburgh, qualifying in May 2013, and gained her qualification in Dental Radiography in February 2014.

In 2016 she was given the opportunity to train as an Orthodontic Therapist at the Manchester School for Dental Care Professionals, qualifying in June 2017, and has since been enjoying her role as Orthodontic Therapist and Practice Manager.
